PURPOSE
LIONEL CHERY EDUCATION CENTER’s primary purpose is to educate students in a faith-based community and to equip them to contribute to their community. LIONEL CHERY EDUCATION CENTER is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization.
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
Embracing Truth. We believe the Bible is the Very Word of God and is the source of absolute truth. We seek to teach students God’s Word as we encourage them to apply its principles to daily living. Each staff member is expected to maintain a consistent time in God’s word. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
Modeling Christ. Our intent is to be people who believe in God’s Word. Therefore, we seek to model Christ in all situations and to teach students Bible truths and Christian character. We know this will happen only by applying God’s Word and by the power of the Holy Spirit. “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” “ But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
Pursuing Excellence. We strive to do all things in a manner pleasing to the Lord. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23
Impacting the World. We strive to equip students to impact the world for Jesus. Our focus is to bring about positive, productive change for the kingdom of God by integrating biblical truths across all subject areas.” That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Colossians 1:10
Developing a life-long Christian worldview. We train our students to view life and all knowledge from a biblical perspective. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:6-8
Appreciating the uniqueness of each student as designed by God. We provide a quality learning experience that engages students and encourages them to their full potential in Christ and focuses on what is best for each student. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”Psalm 139: 14
Building a community of love and grace. This will manifest itself in different ways including kindness, encouragement, forgiveness, and love for those we come in contact with every day.” A new command I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, all will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.” John 13:34
Being a servant to others. We prepare effective servant leaders who will desire to follow biblical principles in their interactions with others, fulfill their responsibility toward good citizenship and mission outreach, give their lives in service to God, and impact their families, communities, and the world for Christ. Colossians 4:5-6 “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.” Matthew 20:26 6
Partnering with Parents. We recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children; we collaborate with them and encourage them to take an active role in their children’s education. “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6: 6-7 “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it..” Proverbs 22:6
